For this occasion, we decided to join forces with our old friends and collaborators Senselab (Anna Barbara), Aurora Destro and Nicolò Gobini
We proposed a rather neutral space (a limbo) giving the performers a clean, light room waiting to be filled with their stories, characters, and personalities.
The dressing room is a place of passage for performing artists and actors. It is a temporary, calm space that allows the occupant to prepare for performance without distractions. Our design follows functional and architectural logic. The alignments, materials, proportions, acoustics, and lighting are the aspects we studied in order to make this small space (about 12 square meters) suited for the moment of preparation before entering the stage.
The project became an opportunity for us to experiment with biodegradable materials used in building construction and for interiors; MOGU acoustic panels. They are made from mycelium and produced in a young company close to Milan. We combined them with objects found on-site, such as the modular grille installed on the ceiling, and the small glass lights, typical of theatre dressing rooms, that we preserved and reused as a tribute to the old dressing room (they still function perfectly). In addition to the padded effect given by the materials, elementariness and precision were applied to allow the performing artist to strengthen their inner feelings and offer them to the public.
The project was an opportunity to illustrate how interior decoration can generate circular systems in its choice of materials and contemporarily include nature, science, and technology. At the same time, these materials offer comfortable and visually inviting surroundings to their occupants.
